Inclusion/exclusion criteria for ISV's resource files

We'd like to add your organization to our resource files. There is no charge for this service but you are required to meet certain criteria.

If your application is successful, your agency will be included in ISV's resources database, and in future editions of The Red Book: Directory of Services for the Lower Mainland.

If yours is a non-profit agency - or meets one of the other criterion listed below - and has been in operation for at least six months, please call our resources and publications department at 604 875-6431 for an application form.

Inclusion criteria for ISV's resource files:
  • Non-profit agencies providing a direct community service.

  • Federal, provincial, regional, and municipal government services and elected representatives.

  • Mutual support groups.

  • Hospitals, continuing care facilities, and other health care providers.

  • Advocacy groups.

  • Member organizations, such as churches and service clubs, offering services beyond their own membership to the community at large.

  • For profit companies may be considered for inclusion if they provide a community service free of charge; are contracted by a government agency to provide services at no direct cost to the client; or meet a need not addressed by the non-profit sector.

  • Occupational organizations, especially those in the community service fields.

  • Organizations located outside the Lower Mainland or outside BC that provide a service not available locally, and are accessible through toll-free phone numbers and/or Internet access.

  • New organizations must have been in existence for at least six months before being included in any printed directory. This does not preclude ISV from giving out information about a new organization if a caller requests it.

  • Confirmation of licensure by a third party may be required for services such as childcare, home care, and recovery homes, before inclusion in our resources.

If ISV decides not to include an agency in its resource files and/or directories, the agency has the right to appeal the decision through the following protocol: if the matter cannot be resolved through consultation with the resources and publications department, the agency may contact the executive director, in writing, to challenge the exclusion. The executive director will respond to the agency within seven days. If still unresolved, the complaint may be taken to the board of directors at their next monthly meeting. The complainant will receive a reply within 10 days of the board meeting.

If you would like your agency/program to be considered for inclusion in The Red Book Online and the hard copy directory, contact our resources and publications staff at 604 875-6431 or e-mail them.
